With paper and transportation costs increasing, switching to digital documents and forms to cut costs makes more and more sense – and not just for the obvious reasons. Digitization and “lean” best practices help contractors reduce waste across their businesses. From faster processes for forms to spotting patterns that cause project delays, digitization results in tangible benefits that make running a business easier and more affordable for business owners and operations managers.
NorCal NECA’s Associate Member DADO is trying to help our contractors by focusing on four practical, real-life ways that digital forms software will help your business achieve the benefits of lean construction. No BS, just concrete examples of what they can do, and the benefits you will see. Check out DADO’s Debrief by clicking here.
NorCal NECA’s Spring General Membership Meeting is scheduled for 5:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the Dublin Ranch Golf Course (5900 Signal Hill Drive, Dublin). Network with your peers to gain informational insight in the industry, while participating in our mini tradeshow where select NorCal NECA Associate Members will display their products and services.
We will also welcome guest speaker Josh Bone (Executive Director ELECTRI International). Josh will talk about Innovative Technologies Transforming Electrical Contractors. Project deliver methods and building’s systems are growing increasingly complex. Owners and general contractors continue to push tighter schedules and control cost all while subcontractors are expected to adapt to their ever-changing expectations.
If you have not already done so, please RSVP your attendance by clicking here.
The Officer & Overhead Personnel Compensation Report presents a detailed analysis of key compensation and workforce benefits data from companies operating in the electrical contracting industry. Based on confidential surveys submitted by electrical contractors, this report includes a compilation and analysis of data segmented by total company sales volume, NECA chapter affiliation, and union status. The data includes: annual wages paid to overhead employees, officer compensation, employee benefit information, retirement/pension plan information and more!
NECA Members can receive this report for $45.00, and Non-NECA Members can receive the report for $95.00. If you participated in the study, you should have received a free copy of this report! You can click here to purchase a copy of the Officer and Overhead Personnel Compensation Report.
The Western Region Tri-District meeting will be held at the beautiful Royal Sonesta Kaua’i Resort in Lihue, Hawaii, from July 12–15, 2022. Registration fees for the meeting are $850 for NECA Members, $600 for your spouse/guest and $150 for children. Click here to register.
Guest speakers at the meeting include Karl Mecklenburg – former Denver Broncos player, six-time Pro Bowler, and four-time First Team All-Pro. The lessons life in the NFL taught him about teamwork, courage, dedication, desire, honesty and forgiveness and goal setting are his keys to success. The second speaker is Sylvie Di Giusto who helps individuals and organizations explore how people make up their minds very quickly about them or their company, and either open the door for them or slam it shut. Sylvie takes audiences around the world on an interactive and entertaining journey of self-discovery that reveals how the world sees them, their brands, and organizations and ultimately, how they see themselves.
If you have questions or need help registering for the Tri-District meeting, please contact Jenny Fothergill at the Chapter office.

NECA and the Politico Group Continues to pursue a tax credit to offset the costs of the reinstated COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave (SPSL), and because the issue is so important, the Politico Group has developed an additional tool to get our contractors’ voices heard. That tool is www.unioncontractorvoice.com. This website is a grassroots platform dedicated to California union-signatory construction employers. The platform will be used to focus on the most pressing issues impacting the union construction industry and empower union contractors, large and small alike, to take action.
Please take the time to click the above link. Once on the main page, click “Take Action Now.” Then, simply input your information and click “Send Email.”

Delays are aggravating. The rescheduled flight or late train causes frustration. Rising to the top of the list – the unfinished economic recovery from COVID-19. In 2021, strong fiscal growth paused due to the rapid spread of the delta and omicron variants. Added to that was pandemic-related fallout from a hampered supply chain and unexpectedly high inflation. While such variables continue to loom, indicators are showing a full economic recovery in late 2022. The construction industry will bounce back more slowly, but recent outlooks show gains in every sector. If patience is a virtue, we should reap its rewards this year. Read more about the 2022 Construction Outlook from Electrical Contractors magazine by clicking here.
NorCal NECA is excited to provide foreman specific training through the Foreman’s Development Series (FDS). FDS consists of individual modules where foremen and journeymen have the opportunity to participate in an interactive learning atmosphere of teaching and discussion focused on industry “best practices.” This rigorous and robust multi-lesson education series replaces previously offered EPS and is designed to educate, excite and expand one’s knowledge. Participants can earn continuing education hours towards state certification while strengthening skill sets and learning from highly trained subject matter experts. Module descriptions and registration information can be found here. FDS modules are currently being offered in Stockton, Napa and Pleasanton. Please contact Jenny Fothergill with any questions.
