Two weeks ago, the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) held its 32nd annual student competition in Sparks, Nevada. This year, students gave presentations in 12 different construction categories. The electrical program was presented by Rosendin Electric and challenged 10 University teams of 6 people each. The students were provided an existing facility that was being repurposed as a phased Enterprise Data Center. The project, located in Southwestern Region of the United States, was 90% complete with phase one and the students were being asked to provide competitive bids for the second phase – a 48MW deployment, leaving the final 24MW for Phase 3. The Milwaukee School of Engineering took first place, while Auburn University came in second place and CSU Chico took third place.
