This course provides attendees with detailed training about electrical safety in the workplace as covered in the 2026 edition of NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. NFPA 70E applies to both employers and employees, making compliance a shared responsibility. This training looks at key objectives in the standard and how they relate to the OSHA Regulations. More specifically, this program will help attendees understand the essentials related to properly applying the 70E Standard and review the recent revisions to the 2024 Edition. Many of the technical requirements have not changed, however, the document has been reorganized to place an emphasis on the process of hazard elimination as the first priority.
Additional topics to be covered include, but are not limited to:
- The hierarchy of risk controls
- Process of risk assessments
- Human performance factors
- The criteria for determining if and when energized work is justified
- Application of lockout/tagout
- Arc-flash PPE selection methods
- Training requirements for employers and employees
- Documentation requirements for employers
