EBUCC Educational Forum

Tesla Powerwall

This presentation will cover the Tesla Energy Storage System, why it’s relevant, the component review, operational modes, interconnection, safety and compliance UL Standard and how it’s related to NEC Compliance. Tesla’s 2nd generation energy storage system, the Powerwall 2, is being installed in configurations that allow for partial and whole-home back-up, and may be installed with an without solar.

Charles Picard, Tesla Sr. Engineer – Solar Product Compliance will be the instructor for this Forum. In his current role, he is responsible for vetting new products, materials and methods for compliance with applicable codes and standards, in addition to acting as an educational resource to building, electrical and fire code enforcement officials. He is also a licensed Master Electrician, having completed a traditional four-year apprenticeship in the New England area. After a period of working on conventional large-scale commercial and industrial projects he has been focused exclusively on the PV industry since 2007.
