This course gives participants a 2-year national certification for providing basic medical emergency response. This course is five-hours and includes both classroom and hands-on skills training. Upon successful completion of the course, a 2-year certification card will be issued. Topics include:

• Injury and illness assessment
• Bleeding control and shock management
• Fractures / sprains / strains
• Seizures / convulsions
• Poisoning
• Burn treatment
• Treatment of head injuries
• Treatment for heat stress / heat stroke
• CPR and AED for heart failure
