DESCRIPTION:This class will discuss the recent fires in Napa and Sonoma Counties and the expected impacts on the construction industry and governmental agencies’ responses\, including worker supply\, costs\, handling of toxics cleanup and expedited permitting. Mr. Dan McLennon will also help contractors understand and cope with more than 20 new laws that directly affect contractors in California starting January 1\, 2018. Bills addressed will include AB-1701 that makes general contractors directly liable for unpaid wages and benefits owing to workers of subcontractors of any tier. Also\, Dan will highlight many bills likely to move forward in the California legislature in 2018 that contractors will want to watch and influence.
